After the loss of their son, Mr. and Mrs. Watson spent countless hours addressing several areas of concern that appeared after their investigation of the events at NAS Pensacola, 6th December 2019. As a result of their efforts and the work of the Alabama Congressional Delegation, several key changes were added to the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act. Special thanks to Senator Doug Jones and the Senate Armed Services Committee. Even though these changes became law, most of the key provisions remain unimplemented. To aid our efforts, please consider making a donation to the Ensign Watson Foundation.
Mr. Watson also sits on the Sub-committee of Government Affairs sponsored by the National Association of Mortgage Brokers. Currently the committee is supporting bill HR 1815 which addresses Veterans who are behind on their mortgages and are facing foreclosure.
Ensign Joshua Kaleb Watson graduated from the United States Naval Academy on May 24, 2019 with his degree in Mechanical Engineering. He reported to Naval Air Station Pensacola Florida for flight school on November 15, 2019. He lost his life after being shot six times by a Saudi Terrorist on December 6, 2019. In all, three sailors lost their lives!
In the summer of 2018, then mid-shipman Watson, experienced his first flight aboard a F-18 Super Hornet. When this picture first appeared on Facebook, the family asked if he was Goose or Maverick? It was decided that neither was the case, and a better comparison was Iceman played by Val Kilmer in both movies.
This picture features the entire Watson Family. Ensign Watson stands in the middle of his two brothers and parents on his 23rd birthday. The photo was taken during commissioning week at the United States Naval Academy. He graduated two days later.
